A Zaporozhian Cossack letter to the politicians in Barbados:
The fine people of Barbados have been cheated by their politicians who have degraded the Barbadian Monarchy to a barbarian republic, the second-class constitution of republic which now has sadly replaced the first-class constitution of monarchy, Constitutional vandalism. Yet another boring republic, ten a penny, with just another member of a gang of self-serving politicians as "head of state".
While the petty politicians in an act of characteristic dishonest populism claim that the Monarchy was colonial, the same prostitutes of politicians (no offence meant to real prostitutes, a profession manifestly more honourable than politician) have spread their legs wide open to much contemporary Maoist-Stalinist-Chinese-Communist neocolonialism. The current Chinese totalitarian dictatorial regime is the heir to the greatest murderer to date, Mao, and continuing the profound evil of Stalinists and Bolsheviks. The politicians of Barbados have taken a step towards making their country the Hong Kong of the Caribbean, the nouveau colony of communism, a cheap reproduction of the iron curtain in the Caribbean, iron curtains to the Constitution. Maybe this is a way for the Chinese communist regime to retaliate for the UK being critical of concerns about democracy and human rights in Hong Kong? "A wife married is like a pony bought - I'll ride her and whip her as I like." This is an old Chinese proverb which the current Chinese regime seems to be applying to the (leading) female politicians of Barbados - Chinese whipsters!
As in Frank Sinatra's song:
Love and marriage, love and marriage,
Go together like a horse and carriage.
The Barbadian politicians become the horse and carriage for their Chinese neo colonial masters in the whip seat.
Even the plonkers of English Brexiteers at least had a referendum (of a sort) while the politicians of Barbados could not even bother to have a referendum to legitimise their act. An earlier poll as recent as 2015 supported retaining the Monarchy with only 24 percent of Barbadians supporting a republic. An illegitimate republic is born from the misconceptions of politicians violating and raping democracy and scr*wing the People of Barbados. It is clearly not the People's Republic of Barbados but the Politician's Republic, the Undemocratic Republic of Barbaria.
In their impatient greed the politicians did not even respect their 95-year-old Queen. Could they not at least have waited until after her reign? The republican politicians' greed also took precedence over dealing with the pandemic and fighting against modern-day slavery, such are the priorities of republicans.
A republic is a white European creation by populist politicians while monarchy is a universal constitutional tradition. Any anti-colonial justification for removing the monarchy in Barbados is therefore even more illogical and dishonest. One of the worst colonial powers has been the French republic. Monarchy and colonialism are two separate phenomena, to state the obvious even if that does not seem evident to some misconceived illogical people who seem to solely blame the monarchy for colonialism as if nobody else in the country had anything to do with colonialism but the monarchy. In Brazil it was even the Monarchy, by decision of the Princess Imperial, that abolished slavery resulting in a republic created by former slave owners in retaliation.
Yet Plato's fine theories of a mixed constitution of monarchy, aristocracy and democracy balancing each other out from sinking to tyranny, oligarchy and populist demagogy are not new but politicians clearly hope these fine theories are not much noted.
Did Barbados not at least have a local chief who could have succeeded to the Throne rather than a degrading mere politician for 'president'?
Despite Britain's historical shortcomings with past colonialism and slavery, even in its sad Brexitian decline, the United Kingdom remains nevertheless a leading country of freedom and tolerance in a way far superior to most of its former colonies who as independent states lack severely in democracy and have appalling human rights records. Indeed the United Kingdom abolished slavery, while the republican USA continued slavery long after and had even racial segregation as late as the 1960s, decades after republican Nazis even had been defeated in Germany, not to mention continuous serious problems with racism and inequality in the US.
The Apartheid regime in South Africa also replaced monarchy by a racist republic. King George VI was told not to speak to the Black soldiers he was decorating in South Africa in the 1940s but he did not follow that 'advice' of course. Her daughter Queen Elizabeth II clearly had no problem dancing with the Black President of Ghana in the 1960s. If anyone had a problem with the Queen dancing with a Black man it certainly was not the Monarchy. The Black Caribbean Cabaret Star Leslie Hutchinson was a good friend of Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent and Edwina, Lady Mountbatten.
Politicians come and go. No politicians from before 200 years remain to answer for slavery unlike the monarchy still questioned on behalf of the whole nation.
One should not limit one's perspective and thoughts to just one black and white view. Constructive criticism is good, destructive criticism and throwing out the baby with the bath water is not.
The politicians claimed to wish to leave behind their colonial history by removing the monarchy but very selectively the politicians chose not to leave behind the colonial history of having criminalisation of consensual same-sex sexual conduct between adults.
The US State Department Report on Barbados summarises:
Significant human rights issues included: trafficking in persons, and the criminalization of consensual same-sex sexual conduct between adults.
While falsely seeking to associate slavery with monarchy, over two centuries after the abolition of slavery by the United Kingdom, the current politicians of Barbados clearly are not concerned about stopping continuing trafficking in persons, modern-day slavery – shocking hypocrisy – the Hypocritic Republic of the Homo Politicus or the hipocritic hippopotamus fat bitches of dumb bimbo women politicians currently in power in Barbados dishonoring their fine gender! It is so much easier for contemporary politicians to be concerned about slavery existing over two centuries ago than contemporary modern slavery that still exist and would need politicians to do something other than utter empty words, purely performative slacktivism.
Anti-colonialism seems to be not so much about criticising colonialism and slavery per se but who was doing it. It seems to be fine to colonise and maintain poverty now if it is done by a post-colonial dictatorship or the Communist People's Republic of China but a problem if it was an old monarchy and its white people centuries ago. Slavery also seems fine or subject of no major outcry if it is now done by middle eastern authoritarian despots and dictators but a problem still over two centuries later if it was done by white people.
At best the reverse nationalist anti-colonialists fail to see the wood from the trees. While there have been trees of colonialism and slavery and other evils, nevertheless the wood is of one freedom and tolerance, democracy, and human rights.
As it was said wisely in Paul Scott's The Jewel in the Crown:
We are looking for a country, but it is here... Why should we not stop squabbling about it and start living in it. What does it really matter who runs it, Hindu or Muslim or whose face is dark or white?
It is a loss above all for Barbados and the fine people of Barbados but also for the United Kingdom.
